John M. Esquivel
John Esquivel is retired from Shell Oil Company where he was chief ethics and compliance officer and associate general counsel. During his 32 years as an attorney for Shell, Mr. Esquivel served on the investment committee for the Shell Pension Plans, the senior leadership teams of Shell’s major business segments and the company-wide strategic study team on diversity. His recent accomplishments and civic contributions include: member of the board and executive committee of UnidosUS (formerly known as National Council of La Raza), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization; past chairman of the Greater Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation; member of the Community Relations Committee of the Memorial Hermann Health System; past chairman of Justice For Our Neighbors Houston, a nonprofit organization that provides low-cost, quality immigration services; and member of the board of the YMCA of Greater Houston. He was also elected lay leader for the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Additionally, he serves on the board and executive committee of the Texas Methodist Foundation and on the Executive Board of the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. Mr. Esquivel received his Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Mary’s University and his J.D. from the University of Michigan.
