Susan Chen

Susan is a Senior Managing Director at the University of Texas Investment Management Company (UTIMCO).  She is the portfolio manager of UTIMCO’s $15 billion global public equities portfolio. She previously managed UTIMCO’s venture capital and growth private equity portfolio.  Susan is a member of UTIMCO’s Investment Committee and Leadership Team, and she previously chaired UTIMCO’S Co-Investment Committee.

Prior to UTIMCO, Susan was a Managing Director at a $5 billion alternative investment firm affiliated with Highbridge Capital, where she was a portfolio manager and analyst for distressed debt, event-driven equity, private debt, and special asset investments. She started her career in investment banking at Merrill Lynch.

Susan serves on the Investment Committees of St. David’s Foundation and Boy Scouts Capitol Area Council.  Susan earned an MBA and J.D. cum laude from Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School, respectively, and an A.B. in economics from Harvard College, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She grew up in Houston, where she still has family.
