
Susan Chen
Susan Chen is a senior managing director at the University of Texas Investment Management Company (UTIMCO), where she leads the team that manages UTIMCO’s $20 billion global public equities and strategic partnerships portfolio. She is a member of UTIMCO’s investment committee and leadership team and has also managed UTIMCO’s technology venture capital and growth private equity portfolio. Chen previously chaired UTIMCO’s co-investment committee.
Prior to joining UTIMCO, Chen was a managing director of a $5 billion alternative investment firm affiliated with Highbridge Capital, where she was a portfolio manager and analyst for distressed debt, event-driven equity, private debt, and special asset investments. She started her career in investment banking at Merrill Lynch.
Chen serves on the investment committees of the Boy Scouts Capitol Area Council, and St. David’s Foundation, where she also serves as a Trustee. She is a member of the board of directors for McCombs Investment Advisors.
Chen earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard College, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She grew up in Houston and maintains close ties to the city, where she still has family.
