A new philanthropic initiative to support artists of color in the Houston area on Wednesday announced the first 120 arts organizations to receive a combined $2 million in grants to use as they see fit. Twenty-five panelists with the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) Arts Network & Fund awarded the grants, which ranged from $5,000 to $50,000, to a diverse selection of nonprofits, art collectives, studios, festivals and projects.
